Centering Prayer


Come and be still as we gather in sacred space by candlelight and cross in the presence of God and one another. The half hour begins with a brief passage of scripture or uplifting word from ancient and contemporary spiritual guides, followed by 20 minutes in silence, and concluding with a version of the Lord's Prayer.

Intergenerational Women's Book Group


Marjorie Thompson’s Soul Feast: An Invitation to the Christian Spiritual Life (Newly Revised Edition)

 This will be a 10-12 week study, with one chapter of reading (approximately 20 pages) per week.  Began January 31, but there's still time to join!
 
Childcare is available, and we will try very hard to stick to 6:30 - 7:30 so members can get kids home to bed if necessary.

A.-J. Levine Interprets Key Texts About Jesus


Both Jews and Christians count the Prophet of Israel as sacred writings, but we take very different  messages from them. How does the New Testament understand Isaiah’s “Immanuel” and “suffering servant,” the “sign of Jonah,” Daniel’s “son of man” and other ancient sayings? What did these texts mean in their original contexts? How might they be understood today?

Young Adult Mission Trip to Asheville, NC


We will leave on Friday evening and returning on Sunday. We will have engage with agencies who are working with those experiencing homelessness as well as poverty. This will be a great weekend of service, fellowship, and faith..

Westminster Academy - Sue Tully Trout


We welcome back to Westminster Professor Sue Tully Trout! Sue is an Assistant Professor of English at Belmont University. She teaches American  literature, especially Southern Literature, Critical Reading and Writing, Junior Seminar, and composition. Over four weeks in March, Sue will walk us through Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders, which Colson Whitehead of The New York Times Book Review called “A luminous feat of generosity and humanism.” Begins March 7.

1st Annual WPC Basketball Jamboree


6th-12th grade youth, adults who are alumni of the youth ministry, and anyone who just loves basketball are invited to form teams. All members of the congregation are invited to come out to enjoy the wonderful new gym and watch these teams face off! Pizza and snacks will be available. Suggested donation is $5 at the door. Proceeds will benefit organizations that the youth ministry will be working with this summer on the Nashville Interfaith mission weekend (July 12-15). The choir will sing for worship on June 3 at Midcoast Presbyterian Church, Topsham, Maine, and concerts at Trinity Anglican Church in Digby, and All Saints Cathedral in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on June 5 & 7.
