The Ministry of Music
Music is a great and glorious gift from God and a powerful means for prayer, praise and proclamation! The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Colossians charges: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, as you sing Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your heart to God" (Col. 3:16). Psalm 147 also states clearly that we are to praise God through music: "Praise ye the Lord, for it is good to sing praises unto our God, for it is pleasant, and praise is comely."The music program of Westminster Presbyterian Church is an integral and essential part of the church's overall ministry. We seek to offer music education, ministry, and worship that provides all age groups with opportunities to use and develop their gifts in service to God and God's people through music. While we utilize a great breadth of musical styles, Westminster Church is committed to music that is well-crafted, and theologically and liturgically sound as our appropriate offering to God in worship. We give thanks to God for our long and distinguished tradition of excellent church music at Westminster, a tradition that continues to shape our children, youth and adults as church musicians.
