We begin the calendar year celebrating 12 years of discipleship in partnership with Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity. This year our theme is Building on a Sure Foundation. What is the line from that old hymn? I think it’s "On the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand." That’s what comes to mind for me when I think of our theme this year. What is a Home but a sure foundation for a family, most especially one built together in a community of faith as provided by Habitat and Westminster?
Taken from the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity website, "Shelter is a critical human need. What works in the long run is investing in people and property to provide homes and enhance the opportunities for reinvestment in communities. Families grow in our programs and learn the importance of giving back." Habitat is not just about giving people a hand up; it’s about teaching them to be a part of a community; it’s about teaching them to help others while they learn to help themselves. Of course, often those of us working with the families learn even more as we grow in our own journeys of faith.
Once again we are asking for your time, your talents and right now most urgently, your pledges as we try to reach our goal of $57,000 so that we may help provide a Home for our deserving partner family in Timberwood. Please prayerfully consider how you can help in this important and life changing mission, and fill out your pledge card today (found on the backside of the this page.) Checks can also be mailed to the church office with "Habitat House 2008" noted in the memo section.
Many Thanks,
Michelle Lazalier
