Transition Oversight Committee

Westminster Senior Pastor Transition Timeline

The Transition Oversight Committee meets every month to review and plan for needed activities and session actions to insure a smooth transition in the job of senior pastor to this church. Each month there will be an updated report in the church newsletter as well as information on the website, nashvillewpc.org.

Below is a revised timeline that reflects K.C. Ptomey, Jr.'s recently announced last Sunday in the pulpit (November 23, 2008) and corresponding changes in the search process.


May - August 2008	Search begins for Interim Pastor.
September 2008	Session will begin determining the process to follow in conducting the Mission Study that must precede the calling of a new Senior Pastor. Usually a consultant is used. This committee should be selected very carefully, the study must not begin until after K.C.'s pastoral call is dissolved. This is as prescribed in the Book of Church Order. All data necessary to complete the Church Information Form will be available in the office.
October 2008	Annual Congregational Meeting and TOC Report. Vote to dissolve pastoral relationship.
November 2008	Presbytery's Committee on Ministry will contuct exit interviews with KC and Session. Committee on Ministry assigns a second liaison to work with Session in transition to new Senior Pastor. K.C.'s last Sunday in the pulpit, November 23, 2008. Interim Pastor's name to Session for approval and contract submitted to Committee on Ministry for concurrence. Mission Study Committee named by this time.
December 2008	Congregational meeting held to dissolve K.C.'s pastoral relationship Interim pastor begins.
December 31, 2008	K.C.'s pastoral relationship dissolved.
January 1, 2009	Mission Study being conducted.
February 2009	Session determines the process for electing the Pastoral Nominating Committee.
April 2009	Mission Study should be completed by this time.
May 2009	Session calls congregational meeting to elect Pastoral Nominating Committee. Presbytery liaison assigned in November 2008 will begin meeting with PNC for guidance throughout search process.
