Camp Westminster 2013
Camp Westminster opens on Monday, June 3, and meets Monday - Thursday for six weeks through July 18, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. each day.  Campers are welcome to join us for any or all of the six weeks in June and July, and our youngest campers (currently enrolled 1s & 2s) may choose 2 days or 4 days each week.
New themes and guest visitors make for great fun!  Each day includes water play and messy art, so send your campers in bathing suits with a full change of clothes and lunch each day.  Remember to send a water bottle and apply sun screen and bug spray, too.

Dates, details and forms are available online at www.wsycnashville.org and in the school office.  A few spaces remain for incoming campers most weeks, so call the school office 297-0235 (camp administrators:  Maria TeSelle, Camp Director; or Ruth Rock, Camp Office Manager) for assistance or email Ruth at rsrock@wsycnashville.org to check availability.
Imagine the fun!

Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday.  Session I June 3-6;  Session II June 10-13;  Session III June 17-20;  Session IV June 24-27;  Session V July 8-11;  Session VI July 15-18.

Westminster School for Young Children Receives National Accreditation
As you may remember, the preschool (3s, 4s, and 5s) worked extremely hard to obtain NAEYC ( National Association for the Education of Young Children) accreditation in 2009. NAEYC maintains very standards and is thought of as the gold standard in preschool accreditation. When the preschool and the Toddlers and Twos programs combined to form WSYC (Westminster School for Young Children), we knew that the combined school would have to be “re-examined” by NAEYC in order to maintain the accreditation. NAEYC recently performed a comprehensive on-site review of WSYC. NAEYC visited classrooms, looked at procedures, and reviewed pretty much every aspect of the school’s operations.

I am happy to report that NAEYC notified us that WSYC would be allowed to maintain the NAEYC accreditation. To maintain the accreditation, the school had to meet all required NAEYC criteria and meet at least 70% of the criteria assessed in each classroom/group observed. Not only did the school meet the NAEYC required criteria, WSYC met 94% - 97% of the criteria assessed in each classroom/group observed - extremely impressive! Nancy, the admin staff, and the teachers worked so hard to prepare for the NAEYC visit, and I’m so proud that their hard work paid off. Please join me in congratulating Nancy and the staff on this outstanding accomplishment.
