Discipleship Classes
DISCIPLE Bible Study Series
Registration is required. Westminster is pleased to offer the DISCIPLE Bible Study. DISCIPLE is an intensive study, requiring participants to commit to 32-34 weeks of study as a part of small groups, to give two hours each week to group time and to give 5-10 hours each week in preparation for group. The DISCIPLE workbook is part daily devotional guide, part commentary, and part journal; the cost for the class and materials is $40. Please contact Jill Endsley or Guy D. Disciple I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study
This first class is an overview of the entire Bible and is the gateway for the other
Disciple classes. Two sections are being offered, both morning and evening.

Disciple II: Into the Word Into the World
An in-depth study of Genesis-Exodus, Luke-Acts with some additional outside resources.
Two sections are being offered:

Disciple III: Remember Who You Are
The third level is a study of the Prophets and the Letters of Paul. Three sections are being offered:

Companions in Christ
Developed by Rev. Marjorie Thompson, Companions is a 28 week small-group experience in spiritual formation. The study is organized in five parts:

Responding to Our Call: The Work of Christ
Exploring Spiritual Guidence: The Spirit of Christ

Centering Prayer
Centering prayer is based on the wisdom saying of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount: “…But when you pray, go to your inner
room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:6). It is also inspired by writings of major contributors to the Christian contemplative tradition and informed by spiritual practices. Communal centering prayer is one of the spiritual practices that comes out of the contemplative tradition. Those who are interested in practicing this discipline are invited to join a group that will pray in silence together on Thursdays, from 11:30 am – noon, in M-112 (below the office, around the corner from Goodpasture Hall). Changing Gears
Fellowship gathering designed for senior members of the church, meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 11:00 am in Fellowship Hall for lunch and entertainment. Other excursions are taken throughout the year;

Men’s Coffee
Retired men meet for fellowship on the second Wednesday of each month at 11:00 am in the church Parlor. Men’s Studies - There are two Bible Studies for men who are interested in studying the lectionary passages for the following Sunday’s worship. They meet at 7:00 am on Wednesday and Friday mornings in the church Parlor.
Presbyterian Women (PW) Circles
This year’s Horizons Bible Study is Confessing the Beatitudes by Margaret Aymer. There are three Presbyterian Women Circles that currently use this curriculum:

Small Groups

Tuesday Morning Prayer
10:30 am prayer held in the Sanctuary. Everyone is welcome.
Ladies Exercise Class
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (8:30 - 9:30 am) in Fellowship Hall. Stretch! Treat yourself! No charge. No prior experience.
Men's Bible Studies
There are two Bible Studies for men who are interested in studying the lectionary pasages for next Sunday's worship. They meet at 7:00 am on Wednesday and Friday mornings in the church Parlor.
Women's Bible Study
Intergenerational group meets Thursday at 9:30 am in the church library to study the lectionary passage for the coming Sunday. Guy Griffith, facilitator.
Wednesday Night Dinner
Reservations are requested. Please call the church office at 292-5526, or you may fill out the card in the church pew pocket
on Sunday morning and drop it in the offering plate or
online. In order to be good stewards of our resources, we are no longer taking standing reservations for the Wednesday Night Dinners. The church will be taking reservations on a week-to-week basis.
Women’s Covenant Group
Fellowship and sharing for women in mid-life. The group meets the second Monday of each month.

Westminster Book Study Group
Fellowship begins at 9:30 am in M-110. The review begins at 10:00 am and will last until about 11:00 am.

March 27: Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery. Discussion to be led by Ben Kane. Fiction, 336 pages, in paperback. “A novel which explores the curious upstairs/downstairs goings on in a Parisian apartment building. The concierge is the key character.”
April 24: The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark. Discussion to be led by Bob Ikard. Fiction, 160 pages, in paperback. “A portrait of Edinburgh in the 1930s when women were dominated by strict codes of behavior.” Rent the excellent 1960s film starring Maggie Smith.
May 22: To be determined. Discussion to be led by Donovan Drake.
Men’s Retreat - February 24
The annual Men’s Retreat will be held on Friday, February 24 from 6:30 – 9:30 pm at the Horseshoe Bend Clubhouse. Please join this time of fellowship and discussion at what has become a wonderful annual event for men of the congregation. For more information contact Guy D. Griffith at
