Laudate Youth Choir
Junior & Senior High Laudate Choir
Rehearsals: Sundays, 5:00pm-6:00pm
Location: Choir Room
This Choir is for 7th through 12th grade youth and is coordinated with the overall Presbyterian Youth Fellowship program during the school year. Laudate Choir reheares each Sunday from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. in the choir room. The Laudate Choir sings for 8:30 AM Worship every Sunday during the school year except for the second Sunday of each month when they sing for the 11:00 service. They also sing for both services on Youth Sunday, for the first Easter service, and for the Christmas Eve 10:30 PM service.
The Senior High Laudate Choir embarks on a Choir Tour, bi-annually, singing and performing hands-on mission work. Past tours have inluded singing for morning worship at the Washington National Cathedral, and for churches in Boston, Chicago, New York City, and Toronto. In June 2004, the Senior Laudate Choir toured Scotland with the Westminster Choir for a Presbyterian Heritage Choral Tour and sang concerts in St. Giles' Cathedral and the Greyfriars'Kirk-Edinburgh, the Abbey at Iona, Newlands South Church-Glasgow, and the Newton on Ayr Church in Ayr. Last year's tour was to Seattle, Port Townsend, and the San Juan Islands. June 13-23, 2008, the choir will tour Prague and the Saxony region of Germany.
The Laudate Choir experience continues to build on the development of every member's music reading skills, and aural and singing skills through a wide variety of musical styles. A schedule for singing is provided at the first rehearsal each new program year and is also contained in this Westminster Music webpage each new program year.
