Discipleship Groups

Discipleship Groups

Registration for long-term courses takes place from summer until classes start in early September. Short-term courses begin at various times through the year with registration occurring several weeks prior to the start of the course. Because of the cumulative and relational nature of intensive courses, registration for some courses may close once the course has started. For questions about current classes, starting new classes, or registering for a class, contact Guy D. Griffith or Melinda Coles.

These groups study lectionary scripture verses that will be used during the following Sunday's service.  All are welcomed to join at anytime!

Centering Prayer

Centering prayer is based on the wisdom saying of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount: "¦But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. (Matthew 6:6). It is also inspired by the writings of major contributors to the Christian contemplative tradition and informed by spiritual practices. Communal centering prayer is one of the spiritual practices that comes out of the contemplative tradition.

Those who are interested in practicing this discipline are invited to join others to pray together in silence on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m.”9:30 a.m. For questions or to learn more, contact Rev. Guy D. Griffith or by calling the church office.
